I unable to add a new record by searching and linking to employee by searching for first name.

I have two tables. A occurrence table, and employee table.

This inputs into occurrence table. Only link between occurrence and employee table is employee ID.

Any recommendations?

Hey @adehaan86,

If on edit mode you open the form and select the Employee ID field/question, you’ll be able to select which fields to show on the dropdown. -see image below.

I do not fully remember if you can search by any of such fields (probably not). Alternatively, you can make Employee Name the primary field on your Employees table, and that will allow you to see and search by employee name on the form.

For last, I’d suggest you look into Fillout forms (more info comparing Airtable native forms and Fillout forms here), as (i) it has a direct Airtable integration, (ii) allows to select which fields from the linked record to search by; (iii) has a super generous free plan.

Hope this helps!

Thank you for your assistance, Yes making it the primary field fixed it.

Right now I will stay with airtable as I am very new to this and not sure how much we will use it.

Got it!!! I hope you get to enjoy Airtable as much as I do :D
