Hi all — every time I try to import a Google Sheet into Airtable, I get this error:

"Can’t import from Google Sheets — Something is wrong with Google API."

This happens regardless of which sheet I try. The sheet is shared properly and I'm logged in with the right Google account. Is this a known issue with the Google Sheets sync or a permissions problem? Would appreciate any tips on fixing or working around this (besides switching to Excel!).

Thanks!

Hm, as a data point I just tried importing a Sheet and it worked fine, so I’d recommend trying it with a different Google account, Base, etc and experiment a bit?

Thanks! I’ve now tried it with two different Google accounts, and the same error comes up each time. I’ll try experimenting with a new base next, but it seems like something might be off with the API connection on my end or more broadly.

Also — just to check — if it does work, will the Airtable table stay synced with the Google Sheet and reflect changes made to the gsheet going forward?

Appreciate the help!

re: will the Airtable table stay synced with the Google Sheet and reflect changes made to the gsheet going forward?

Ah, no it won’t, it’s a one off import I’m afraid.  To keep it synced you’re going to need to use a third party tool to handle it.  May want to try out DataFetcher for this, I remember seeing a post by @Andy_Cloke about it?

Hey Adam! Yes, Data Fetcher works well for keeping Airtable up to date with a Google Sheet. Here is a quick guide to connecting Airtable to Sheets.

Here’s a video too. It focus on importing linked records from Sheets, but you can ignore that part if you don’t need it.

Any issues, feel free to ask me here or support@datafetcher.com 😊
